LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
JULY 2025
Dear Fellow UA Alumni, Fans and Friends:
On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Shelby County Alumni Chapter, I would like to thank you for your support of the University of Alabama, and of the Shelby County Chapter. I personally have a debt of gratitude to the University of Alabama for providing me with the educational tools necessary to succeed in my profession and the lifelong friendships that I value so much. Now is the time to join or renew your membership in the Shelby County Alumni Chapter to help us achieve our two primary goals.
Our first goal is to raise money to help send Shelby County Students to the University of Alabama. Over the past six years, we have grown from seven endowed scholarships to twenty-four endowed scholarships. Over that same six-year period, the balance in the endowment has increased from $0.25 million to $1.45 million. For the 2025-2026 academic year, we have awarded $39,000 to 24 students from Shelby County. Six years ago, we could only award $6,700 for the year. I want to thank all members of the Shelby County Chapter for making this possible. We try and cover the cost of our events with sponsorship money so we can use as much of your contributions as possible to fund scholarships. If you are financially able to contribute extra to our scholarships or to start a new scholarship, please let us know.
Our second goal is to keep the alumni in Shelby County connected with the University. We host an annual Kickoff Event every year. We have a game-day tent for our members to tailgate together for all home football games. We also host watch parties for various athletic events involving our basketball, baseball and softball teams. Our Kickoff Event will be on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 6:00 at Our Lady of the Valley Church on Highway 119. Our speaker will be Chris Stewart and Tyler Watts who will provide their insight on several topics around University of Alabama athletics. It will be a fun event that you will not want to miss.
Finally, I want to thank our Executive Committee members who work tirelessly to make all this happen. We couldn’t do all this without your financial support so please renew your membership to keep this momentum going. We would also love to have you volunteer to help us in any area. You do not have to be an alumnus or live in Shelby County to be a member or to volunteer your time. All you have to do is love the University of Alabama!
There are several ways to join or renew your membership:

2. Pay by check and mail to:

The chapter has a tailgate tent that is set up on University Blvd east of the University President’s
